Are you looking to get income tax back from Ireland?
A refund for any income tax year is normally given by repayment / refund after the end of the relevant tax year.
You can claim tax relief:
- Online using Revenue’s online service if you are a PAYE taxpayer. Become familiar with this service, it can be accessed through myAccount on Revenue.ie
- If you are a self assessed tax payer and you complete a Form 11 each year you can claim relief for health expenses on this form.
The advantage here is that there is no need to submit paper claims, however you are obliged to retain receipts for six years as Revenue may ask to view them at a later stage.
Also one further documentation point to note
If you are claiming relief for the cost of dental treatment other than routine dental treatment this must be accompanied by a certificate (Med 2 – provided by the dentist) signed by a qualified practitioner.
There is a four year time limit for claiming income tax refunds. If you are seeking an income tax refund for the 2017 tax year, you must submit a claim to Revenue by the 31st December 2021.
You may be leaving Ireland and you wish to claim your tax back. Every year thousands of Irish people overpay tax with Revenue. Our Irish tax refund service helps workers to claim income tax refunds as well as any additional refunds for medical insurance, medical expenses and tuition fees. Remember you can go back four years to claim your entitlements to all tax credits.
